What is desktop publishing (DTP)<\/h2>[divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”7px”]

Desktop publishing, often abbreviated as “DTP” or also called “digital typography,” brings together all the digital (i.e., computer-borne) procedures and techniques necessary for the production of publishing products.<\/p>\n

The term literally means “personal publishing,” “desktop publishing,” and was invented by Paul Brainerd, who in 1985 published the first desktop publishing program (PageMaker), laying the foundation for the electronic publishing industry.
\nSince the 1990s, desktop publishing has led to an almost complete replacement of previous publishing production techniques.<\/p>\n

The following devices are required to create content of a publishing nature with DTP: a computer, a monitor, a graphics card, a digital scanner, and a printer.
