You can claim the intellectual property rights of <strong>literary works and artworks<\/strong> as well as names and images, which are often used in the business world and can contribute significantly to <strong>building a brand<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Intellectual property<\/strong> is <strong>legally recognised<\/strong> through the <strong>presentation and registration of a series of documents<\/strong> certifying and indisputably demonstrating ownership.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, <strong>intellectual property rights are also recognised abroad<\/strong>, as long as you comply with the local regulations.<\/p>\n<h2>How many types of intellectual property are there?<\/h2>\n<p>Until a few decades ago, the expression <strong>\u201cintellectual property\u201d<\/strong> was used in several cases that now fall into the <strong>new category<\/strong> of <strong>\u201cindustrial property\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Industrial property<\/strong> includes <strong>inventions<\/strong> (i.e., invention patents), <strong>brand names<\/strong>, <strong>industrial designs and models<\/strong>, as well as <strong>indications of geographical origin<\/strong> (which are very important in the food industry) and <strong>EU rights<\/strong> for new plant varieties (which ensures the protection of a plant variant within the European Community).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Copyright<\/strong> applies to <strong>works in the artistic field<\/strong>, be them <strong>literary<\/strong>, <strong>visual <\/strong>\u00a0(such as sculptures, paintings and films) or relating to the <strong>performing arts<\/strong> (such as singing or dancing).<\/p>\n<h2>How do you obtain industrial property?<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Industrial property<\/strong> rights are obtained by <strong>registering a patent and trademark for a product<\/strong>. These constitute the distinctive aspects of any given idea (also often referred to as an <strong>invention<\/strong>) whose ownership is legally conferred onto its creator.<\/p>\n<p>To obtain intellectual property rights for a product in Italy (whether it be industrial property or copyright) you need to submit a <strong>specific set of forms<\/strong> to the <strong>Italian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong>. <strong>\u00a0<\/strong>You then need to <strong>pay a fee<\/strong>, which may differ depending on the type of patent you\u2019ve filed, or depending on the <strong>length of the descriptive text<\/strong> if you\u2019re <strong>filing a patent for an industrial invention<\/strong> in Italy.<\/p>\n<p>To ensure your <strong>intellectual property rights<\/strong> are recognised in other countries, you need to <strong>submit the documents<\/strong> issued in your country of origin to the international country in which you intend to make a request<strong> in the official language of that country<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurotrad.com\/en\/technical-document-translation-services\/\">Translating professional documents<\/a> relating to intellectual or industrial property rights is not simple.
