Applications
Interpreting services to communicate without borders
Interpreting is essential to overcome language barriers at international business meetings and other events. At Eurotrad, we give you experienced native speakers for:
Simultaneous interpreting
Simultaneous interpreting is the classic in-booth translation of the speaker’s words, enabling the listener to follow a discussion in real time. This type of interpreting service is often used for conferences, conventions, and other formal meetings. In simultaneous interpreting, the interpreter is in a soundproof booth equipped with infrared receivers and headphones. Experienced simultaneous interpreters usually work in pairs, alternating at intervals of 20 to 30 minutes to avoid losing concentration due to fatigue, which can lead to interpreting mistakes. Upon request, we can also provide all the necessary equipment, including the soundproof booth, infrared receivers, and audio system, as well as technical support. Our audio engineers are at your disposal to plan, install, maintain and operate on-site audiovisual and simultaneous interpreting equipment to ensure your event is a success. We also offer recording and videography services.
Consecutive interpreting
Consecutive interpreting can used in the same contexts and applications as simultaneous interpreting, but in this case, the interpreter sits or stands next to the speaker, listens for a period of time that can vary from about 5 to 10 minutes, During this time, the interpreter transcribes what the speaker says using stenographic shorthand, then relays the message to the audience in the other language, while the speaker momentarily stops speaking. Compared to simultaneous interpreting, consecutive interpreting has the advantage of not requiring expensive equipment. However, translation time is longer, so this needs to be taken into account when planning your event. Our consecutive interpreting services for conferences and other events can also include the support of professional audio engineers, who will install and monitor equipment such as microphones, wireless headsets, projectors, and screens.
Whispered interpreting
Whispered interpreting — also known by the French term “chuchotage” — involves a native-speaking interpreter who stands or sits next to the speaker, facing a small audience, and whispers in the speaker’s ear a simultaneous interpretation of anything that is said by the audience or other speakers. This interpreter also translates out loud what the speaker says into the target language of the audience. Whispered interpreting is most suitable for situations where only a small number of people need an interpreter and may not be an effective technique for very large audiences. It does not usually require special technology, although headphones and microphones may be helpful in certain situations, especially in very large rooms where the interpreter’s voice may be more difficult to hear. Chuchotage is similar to simultaneous interpreting in that the interpreter whispers while the speaker is speaking. Whispered interpreting is used in a variety of contexts and may also be referred to as “conference interpreting”, “court interpreting”, or “escort interpreting”.
LIS Interpreting
We provide interpreting services for Italian Sign Language (LIS), helping deaf and hearing people communicate in a variety of settings (conferences, training courses, events, etc.) with the aim of facilitating interaction and social inclusion.
Reference rate for interpreting services
Professional interpreting services can start from €450 for a half-day assignment, depending on the languages involved and the type of event.

How does simultaneous translation work and what is it?
As we mentioned, simultaneous translation is a type of voice translation that requires a great deal of skill. It can be performed with or without equipment, but in any case, it should not be performed for too many minutes at a time because it is extremely tiring for the translator.
Simultaneous Voice Translation with Professional Interpreters: What It Is and When It’s Needed
Simultaneous translation occurs when, while a speaker speaks in their own language, the simultaneous interpreter performs a “snap translationinto a different language, allowing listeners who don’t understand the original language to follow the conversation.
Simultaneous interpreting can be performed for a single person or for groups of varying sizes. In the former case, it is performed without the need for electronic equipment and is called “chuchotage.” This word refers to the act of whispering performed by the translator, who sits next to the person being translated and speaks to them in a very low voice.
For international conferences or other events involving multiple people, the translator may use a microphone connected via radio to multiple headphones, each of which is provided to one of the listeners requiring translation.
Professional Simultaneous Voice Translation: What Equipment Is Needed?
In most cases, simultaneous translation requires a translation booth (where, in the case of very long speeches, several translators alternate, equipped with microphones and a set of wireless headphones).
If the translator is not present at the speaker’s location, it is possible to perform simultaneous translation via the web using special programs. This software allows the translator to receive the voice of the person being translated and to make their own voice heard by the recipients.
Who should you turn to for professional simultaneous voice translation?
Professional interpreters like those working with Eurotrad are the safest and most reliable choice when it comes to simultaneous translation. This is especially true when important activities such as conducting lessons or conferences, approving commercial agreements, etc. depend on proper simultaneous translation.
Professional interpreters specialize in various fields and are also capable of translating technical and specialized terms typical of various business sectors.
Cost of a simultaneous translation by a professional interpreter: simultaneous interpreter rates
Obviously, it’s unthinkable to have a single rate for every simultaneous translation service. There are numerous variables and aspects to consider when providing simultaneous interpreting services.
The cost of interpreting varies depending on the number of interpreters involved, the language combination required, or the transportation costs to the location where the simultaneous interpretation is to take place.
Another factor to consider is the equipment required. The bidule – an audio transmission system that uses receivers connected to the same channel as a transmitter with a microphone – has a different cost than the use of a booth – particularly recommended for conferences or events with a large audience – in which up to two interpreters can work, each with a console consisting of headphones and a microphone.
